Rescue "6401"

"6401" is a type 1 rescue and is the call sign of this GMC/Road Rescue rescue truck. This is our first out rescue rig. It also is capable of four-wheel drive and can transport six (6) firefighters to the scene of an emergency. "6401" has been used to transport the sick and injured in mass casualty situations and inclement weather. "6401" carries a gurney, additional wooden cribbing for extrication calls, mass casualty supplies, oxygen, specialty pediatric medical gear and an AED.
Rescue "6402"

"6402" is a Chevrolet Suburban 4x4 and is used to transport manpower and equipment to the scene of an emergency. "6402" is especially outfitted to access patients that are inaccessible except by a 4x4 vehicle.

Engine "6421"

"6421" is a type 2x engine and is the call sign of this GMC/E-One pumper. This is our first-out rig. It is capable of four-wheel drive, automatic ice chains, 12,000 pound winch, Detroit turbo diesel, Allison automatic transmission, waterous 750 Gallon per minute pump, it carries 500 gallons of water and 25 gallons of Class A foam.
"6421" carries Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or "SCBA" to allow High Country Firefighters to work safely in a smoky, hazardous environment, as well as rescue ropes and hardware, a chain saw for felling burning trees and ventilating burning buildings. "6421" carries EMT gear in case of a medical emergency as well as water and food for Firefighters to "rehab" with when on an extended call.

"6421" carries our rescue gear which includes hydraulic spreaders, cutters and ram for vehicle extrication. These are commonly referred to as the "jaws of life". Additionally, a 6,000 watt generator, reciprocating rescue saw, various wooden cribbing are onboard for use on-scene. The hose bed carries 1200 feet of 3 inch supply line as well as a 2 1/2 inch pre-connected attack line.
Wildfire Engine "6431"

"6431" is a type 3 engine and is the call sign of this International/Beck pumper. This is our first out wildfire rig and a back up for "6421." It has an International diesel engine and a Roadranger 9 speed transmission. it has a 500 gallon per minute pump and has a 500 gallon water tank. It's high clearance chassis, low gear ratio and short wheel base make it very useful when off road fires must be accessed. "6431" carries specialty wildland firefighting gear.
Water Tender "6481"

"6481" has a 2,700 gallon tank capacity and and is capable of pumping and traveling at the same time. Most aparatus must be stationery while pumping water. In the event of a wildfire, we can drive "6481" while a firefighter walks alongside applying water from the fire hose. This tender also includes a monitor (water cannon) on top which can also include the application of water while "6481" travels as needed for firefighting.
Engine "6483"

"6483" has a 4,100 gallon tank capacity and a monitor (water cannon) on top. With the pump running at maximum capacity spraying water out of the monitor, the tank can be emptied in approximately three (3) minutes. "6483" seats four, with two (2) facing forward and two (2) facing backwards.
Extrication Tools

These are the famed "Jaws of LIfe" (center tool in this photo). Motor vehicle collisions requiring extrication on Hwy. 64 are a target hazard that HCFR takes very seriously. We carry an assortment of extrication equipment, as well as specialized hydraulic rescue tools.
